この狛犬のモデルは第二十七代長谷川亀衛門易重が明治43年（1910年）に制作したもので、今でも杭全神社（大阪）に据えられています。
先祖が遺した作品を未来へと繋ぎ、新たな価値を創造する取り組みとして、一つしかない実物を手のひらサイズに復刻させました。制作方法は古法と同じ蝋型鋳造で行いました。これは、一つの原型（蝋型）に対し一つの作品しか生まれない希少な製法で、大量生産では味わえない特別感な趣を感じさせます。緻密な模様や繊細なつくりは、ひとつひとつ丁寧にしあげた「小さな芸術作品」です。
日々の暮らしの中で日本文化をより身近に感じていただき、作品を通じてあたたかな物語が未来へと紡がれていくことを願っています。

*狛犬は、日本の神社の入口や社殿の前に置かれる伝統的な守護獣の像です。一対で設置されることが多く、片方が口を開けた「阿形（あぎょう）」、もう片方が口を閉じた「吽形（うんぎょう）」という形になっています。これらは、仏教や神道における「阿吽（あうん）」の呼吸を象徴し、宇宙の始まりと終わりを表しています。狛犬は悪霊や災いを追い払う役目を持ち、神社の神聖な空間を守る存在とされています。

The model for this guardian dog was created by the 27th generation Hasegawa Kameemon Yasushige in 1910, and is still installed at the Kumata Shrine (Osaka).
In order to preserve the work bequeathed by our ancestors and pass it on to the future, we have reprinted the only existing one in palm-size form. The production method was the same as the old method of wax casting. This is a completely different production method from mass production, and only one piece can be made per prototype (wax mold). Although it takes a lot of time and effort, the greatest appeal of this method is that it allows for the expression of detailed patterns and modeling.

*Komainu are traditional guardian figures placed at the entrances of Japanese shrines and in front of shrines. They are often placed in pairs, one with its mouth open (a-gyou) and the other with its mouth closed (un-gyou). They symbolize the "A-Un" breathing in Buddhism and Shinto, and represent the beginning and end of the universe. Komainu are supposed to ward off evil spirits and disasters and protect the sacred space of shrines.
